For today, we got to have another company visit with a company known for their filmmaking and movie industry, Studio76. This company was truly interesting as they talked about how the company was created and how they decide to make the films. The way he described his thinking let me know that he was truly knowledgeable about the industry he is in and that it came from his experience in it. For example. he talked about how he chooses the genre of the movies he creates based on what is popular for the regions the company is popular in, like making horror and drama shows for the Southeast Asia region.
One thing that truly interested me about this company was their stance and creation in the AI industry. The owner was pretty supportive of AI’s influence in the world and encouraged the use of AI in filmaking and producing art. He talked about how they are using AI as a way to turn movies into webtoon style manhwas for young people to consume. This confounds me as young people are more likely to not support AI-created artworks than any other generation.
After the company visit, we ate lunch and went to a special area called Jiufen (九分). The area is known for being a relatively desolate area after the gold rush ended. A film was made here about its desolate nature and now there is a vibrant foreign influence to the area as it seems to be a very popular spot to go to for souvenirs, food, and other works. I got some merchandise based off the popular anime movie “Spirited Away” and bought some owl chains from a small embroidery shop in the market.
After this, we were taken down to Shifen and sent our own lanterns in to the sky with messages created by ourselves. I dedicated my side of the lantern for better health and peace for my parents.
