Taiwan Day two (5/21)

Today (5/21) we started our day by having breakfast on the top floor of our hotel, which had an amazing view of the city. I tried a bunch of different options for breakfast, while I liked some there was also a couple I was not a fan of. After breakfast, we hoped onto a bus to head to the American Institute in Taiwan. We met with one of the department of commerce workers and he gave us a presentation on what they do and specializes in. I found it interesting how the United States does so much trade with Taiwan but yet we do not recognize Taiwan as a country or are diplomatic involved.

Following this, we traveled into the city and broke for lunch. Malli, Jenn, Kyla, and I went to this restaurant we found on a side street and we grabbed a bunch of different things to try and share. Unfortunately, this is also when I spilled a dumpling on my white pants. This was a hard way to learn stain remover is almost impossible to find in Taiwan.

We then headed to SMC where we met with the CEO, COO, and another company. They explained how they help people with the design and manufacturing of parts they need. I found it interesting because they made such niche parts.

To wrap up our day, we headed to the night market where we tried a lot of different foods. We started with trying a sausage and egg wrap, and then tried a  scallion pancake which I thought was delicious. Kyla and I then tried this peanut ice cream wrap, which was not my favorite but I was happy that I tried it.
