Day 4

Taiwan computer convention (Gigabyte booth visit):

You always hear and read about the tech that is pouring out of Taiwan and the constantly increasing demand for it in light of the new AI boom. It was very interesting to actually see what this tech looks like and get a layman’s explanation on how it works. There is an increased demand for not only quantity of product but also quality and capability. AI training now works these machines harder than anything before which creates large amounts of heat and we where introduced to some of the solutions to this problem. One solution was making it bigger with more fans and airflow. Another was liquid cooled throughout the rig. The coolest solution in my opinion was the submersion cooled. I had asked how long systems like this last and was told that it doesn’t matter how long they last as in most cases they become outdates rather than full depreciated. It was very interesting to see at what point we are in the world with technology and also seeing that Taiwan and Taiwanese companies are at the front lines.
