View From the Top of Taipei National University of the Arts
A university student and alum gave as a tour of the campus despite the rain. We got to get a an idea of the lay out of the campus and also got to see some of the art work created by the students. I have never actually been on a college campus that is fully dedicated to the arts but it was interesting to see pieces of work throughout the entire campus and not contained with in a building or two. With the students that we met and with them being similar age it gave me a chance to practice my Mandarin with someone my own age. We where also able to exchange and culture when we not only asked questions but our tour guild also asked us questions about certain aspects of American college life. Over all it was very interesting to see someone in the same position in life as i am but just in another country with different outlooks and understandings.
Entrance of the Jade Market
The Jade market was fun to walk around. Many of the venders would try to convince you to come and buy or at least take a look. There where lots of beautiful pieces of jewelry and more although jade is not quite in my taste I opted to but a pair of wood figurines. This market is a key example of how prominent that jade is in Asian culture so much to where there is hundreds of vendors selling it. This also gave me an opportunity to practice my mandarin.
This night market was much bigger and had unlimited amounts of options for food compared to the Ning Xia market I had visited a couple nights prior. I had been recommend that i try to pepper bun from this night market and when I saw i huge line i knew that it must have been for the bun. I also had the chance to try some Japanese style dishes of a mochi desert. I also had some Taiwanese classics like sausage in sticky rice and more.
