After our class lecture and reflecting on the now week we have been in Taiwan we made our way to National Taiwan University. This happens to be the place that one of our leading professors, professor Chen, had graduated from.
We where given a great tour by a couple of first year political science students. The tour was informative and I was able to have some small talk with them in mandarin as we walked along. We got to walk down the famous street with rows upon rows of palm trees. This was clearly a popular spot for pictures. A large amount of students had just graduated and where taking pictures.
We where also given some free time to explore around the universities massive library. I guess maybe this is standard to a larger school but having only visited and attended Bucknell I do not know. The purpose of the library seems to be universal as a place to get your homework done or study for an upcoming exam. Not pictured here but we also got a tour of the athletics/recreational facility. I am very thankful that these students took the time out of their day to give us a tour of there university.
Having been around the water since I was born I always make an effort to find away to see any body of water which is exactly what me and a few classmates did in Tamsui. We walked along the coast through a couple of markets and past various venders that reminded me of a boardwalk just like you’d see on the jersey shore.
Its always nice to compare and contrast different parts of the world with my own especially when it comes to something that is very important to me like the water. I hope that maybe with our travel to Taizhong it will be a little easier to find my way to the water.
