Day 8: Traveling to Hsinchu & Taichung

We woke up very early for the high speed rail heading to Taichung. This was definitely the earliest I have ever woken up during the trip besides the first day. We got some breakfast boxes and we rode the high speed rail to Taichung. I relearned that Jennifer is getting a minor in Geography randomly enough and we eventually got to Taichung in 30 minutes. We never got to see what it looked like outside of the train as we were almost always underground but it felt fast.

After the train ride, we went to Hsinchu Science Park and learned about the importance of the science parks all over Taiwan and what their future is looking like. One of the intriguing things about them was how actually important the area we were in was, as 17% of Taiwan’s GDP is from Hsinchu.A lot of the sample potential product and prototypes were intriguing as it was stuff that either knew a lot about or heard the potential of throughout the years (there was a nice keyboard of one of my favorite games and music group that was displayed as well).

We then later went to the Jinshan Temple. The artwork and designs of all the temples I have been to have been stunning and so expressive and Jinshan was no different. As we explore more and more temples, I have a keen interest in actually performing incense prayers as this is an opportunity for me to do something truly unique for myself and to step back into the religious/spirituality side of myself. We also went to the Rainbow village where the artwork was very expressive as well. I got my camera skills disrespected by Joelle and Eileen and learned about the wall filled with sticky notes of peoples hopes and dreams of the future.

At nighttime, a good amount of us decided to explore Hanxi Night Market and ate some good food and shot some cool guns at one of the games. I loved the night here and I really enjoyed the experience I had with everyone.
