We started the day out with another bullet train ride to make our way to Kaohsiung at the southern end of the island. It seems that the more south you go the less populated and dense the cities get. The streets are wider and there is a lot more space over all. The art museum was pretty cool although I only got to walk through 2 of the floors before I was invited by professor Chen to attend a recruitment like trip for one of the local high schools.
It is always rewarding to talk about my place of education. Having spent three full school years at Bucknell I can confidently say that it is the place for me. Any opportunity that I have to praise what the school as given me and taught me I always take. I do hope that maybe one student that attended Professor Chens presentation is interested and will apply.
Despite the heavy rain me and a couple of my classmates decided to make our way over top the Love River and take a ferry ride around the river. Initially we where hesitant because of the rain but decided to go anyways which was the right decision. We got to see a lots of buildings along the river which included two concert halls along with a beautiful bridge which from my guess was the main attraction since we stopped along side it for about five minutes. We also past by two large ROC coast guard boats which was cool to see.
After the boat ride on our way back to the hotel we stopped a the liuhe night market and grabbed some food. We all got some different things and then sat down as a group to have some fried rice and beef noodled. Over all i would say that the first day/night in Kaohsiung was a great day.

I think it’s really awesome you went to talk to some local students. I’d love to hear more about your experience sometime!
