What are my goals for this trip? I don’t know! I’m going into this with a completely open mind with not much of a set of expectations. I’m excited to explore the city, try the local cuisine, and maybe pick up some of the languageāI guess those are my goals!
What are my fears? Concerns? I am absolutely terrified of getting lost. I’m not much of a travel person and I really prefer to be at home where I’m comfortable and familiar with everything, so just being on this trip is already stepping out of my comfort zone. I’m a bit in my head about all the possible situations I could end up in that are out of my control, and I’m anxious about living halfway across the globe away from my family and closest friends, despite only being away for a few weeks. Though, I’m sure I’ll acclimate quickly and focus on enjoying my time in Taiwan once I’m there. I will come back with an update then!
Thank you for sharing so honestly! It is completely natural to feel anxious when stepping so far out of your comfort zone, especially when traveling so far from home. Having an open mind is actually one of the best ways to approach this experience, and you have already set yourself up for success by being willing to explore and learn. We will be there to support each other, and I am confident you will adjust quickly and create some great memories. I am looking forward to hearing your updates once we are there!
