Taiwan Day five (5/24)

Today (5/24), we started our day by boarding the train and heading the Taiwan Art School. Unfortunately, once we got onto the train it started pouring and I did not have a rain jacket. Luckily, we were able to find umbrella’s at the train station, but I my feet still seemed to get wet. We met two students, one who was a graduate and one who was a senior, at the train station and they helped us get onto a bus and head to the campus. Once we arrived at the campus, they let us walk around and explain to […]

Taiwan Day four (5/23)

Today (5/23), I started the morning off with a walk with Kyla, Malli, Mikey, and myself. We walked alongside the river and spotted a lot of different animals (fish, birds, turtles). We walked about 3 miles down the river before crossing back over into the city. We are breakfast at this traditional ‘hole in the wall’ restaurant, where the cook gave us a bunch of different dishes to try. I thought all of the food was really good and I’m glad we decided to stop there and eat. Here are some different views and the breakfast that we tried. After […]

Taiwan Day three (5/22)

Today (5/22), we explored some of the temples around Taipei. We first started at Banka Lunghan Temple. I first noticed the waterfalls when we walked into the temple, this is something I also noticed when we were at a temple we found last night. All the temples we have seen so far have koi Fish, which are way bigger then any I have previously seen. Additionally, the trees at the front of the temple appeared to look to Bonzi trees, but I do not think they were. One thing that I found interesting is when people who were coming into […]

Taiwan Day two (5/21)

Today (5/21) we started our day by having breakfast on the top floor of our hotel, which had an amazing view of the city. I tried a bunch of different options for breakfast, while I liked some there was also a couple I was not a fan of. After breakfast, we hoped onto a bus to head to the American Institute in Taiwan. We met with one of the department of commerce workers and he gave us a presentation on what they do and specializes in. I found it interesting how the United States does so much trade with Taiwan […]

Taiwan Day one (5/20)

Today (5/20) we landed in Taipei early in the morning. We started our day by eating in a traditional Taiwanese restaurant. Jenn and I grabbed a bunch of different traditional foods to split and try together. The food was delicious and I liked just about everything that we tried. Following breakfast, we boarded the train to see the Chiang Kai-shek memorial. I found it really interesting to see the memorial and learn about all the history behind him, as well as his impact on Taiwan. Especially so, I found it interesting that when he became the President of Taiwan, the […]

4/23/25

Personal goals: A goal that I have while visiting Taiwan is learning more about the culture and history. Fears or concerns: I am fearful of the long flight and understanding the locals, as well as signs in a different language
