Day 4

Taiwan computer convention (Gigabyte booth visit): You always hear and read about the tech that is pouring out of Taiwan and the constantly increasing demand for it in light of the new AI boom. It was very interesting to actually see what this tech looks like and get a layman’s explanation on how it works. There is an increased demand for not only quantity of product but also quality and capability. Day 3

Long Shan si (龍山寺) , xin tian gong (行天宫), The palace museum Long Shan Si: Upon arrival the first thing that you notice is the great level of detail in everything. Day 2

American Institute in Taiwan: Trading in my passport for a visitor badge and leaving everything thing in the bus made this visit feel quite serious. It was really interesting to learn that 24 states and many local governments already have relations with Taiwan even though the […]

Day 1

Jumping right into Taiwan we started out with some breakfast down the street from the hotel and then a visit to Chiang Kei-Shek memorial. The architecture and the grandness of this memorial was impressive and the history behind it even more interesting. After this we took a visit to Taipei 101 which is the tallest building in Taiwan and at one point the world. The view from the top floor gave me an idea for how dense of a city Taipei is. For the First night we went to the grand hotel which is an impressive building and enjoyed some […]

Pre-Trip Thoughts

I hope to engage with the culture, language and people and I hope to as much as possible. Having studied Mandarin since high school I hope that this can be a culminating experience not only for the purpose language but also elements culture I have yet to learn. I’m a little concerned for the long flight and hope that there is not too much recovery time for me and my classmates. I’m looking forward to exploring the cities that we will be visiting. I do somewhat fear getting lost but what better way to learn than figuring your way around. […]
